Job Opportunity : Curatorial and Registration Assistant at Newcastle Art Gallery

Join Newcastle Art Gallery during a period of growth and renewal as we prepare to unveil our reimagined space.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Curatorial and Registration Assistant to be part of this exciting journey, working 14 hours per week. In this role, you will support our expanded Curatorial and Exhibitions Team in delivering our ambitious artistic program.

Reporting to the Curatorial Lead, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Assisting with curatorial and collections programs, requiring strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  2. Managing the Gallery's renowned collection through cataloguing, condition checks, and display management.
  3. Maintaining collection management and digital asset systems.
  4. Supporting exhibition delivery by assisting with freight, logistics, object research, and collection interpretation.

This position involves close collaboration with the Registration and Collections Officer and the Curatorial Officer (Collections).

We seek an organized individual with strong administrative skills, a keen eye for detail, and experience in researching and writing about art.

Knowledge of First Nations, Australian, and global art histories is highly valued.
