Employer Description This is an electrical engineering company specializing in power generation projects Job Description Your responsibilities will be the following : Develop substation automation and control system architecture and functional design based on project requirements.
Design and configure IEDs, RTUs, HMIs, PLCs, and other substation control equipment.
Integrate automation systems with SCADA and EMS / DMS platforms using IEC , DNP3, Modbus, and proprietary protocols.
Configure and test communication networks and protocols (GOOSE, MMS, SNTP, etc.).
Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) in coordination with commissioning teams.
Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, configuration files, device settings, and test procedures.
Collaborate with protection engineers, SCADA specialists, OEMs, and system integrators to ensure correct functionality and compatibility Support troubleshooting and maintenance of operational substations, including firmware updates, cyber compliance checks, and performance optimisations.
Ensure all work complies with utility standards, IEC / IEEE regulations, cybersecurity policies, and project specifications.
Qualifications Matric Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Systems Engineering OEM-specific training certifications (e.g., Siemens DIGSI, ABB MicroSCADA, SEL AcSELerator).
SCADA or industrial networking certifications (e.g., IEC training, CompTIA Network+ or equivalent).
Safety training (HSE, electrical authorization, site induction certifications).
Skills 5+ years of experience in substation automation and control systems (11kVkV).
In-depth knowledge of substation secondary systems, control logic, and communication protocols.
Experience with IEDs from major vendors (e.g., Siemens, ABB, GE, SEL, Schneider).
Familiarity with IEC systems, including GOOSE messaging, system configuration (SCL files), and Substation Configuration Tools (SCT).
Strong background in SCADA integration and substation communication networks.
Proficient in software tools such as DIGSI, PCM, IET, RTU / PLC programming environments, and network diagnostic tools.
Ability to interpret complex electrical and control drawings Knowledge of cyber and physical security requirements for critical infrastructure (preferred).
