CTP/DTP Operator

Key Purpose of the Role

To manage and execute all aspects of desktop publishing and pre-press operations with high efficiency and accuracy. This includes preparing lithographic plates, planning pre-press schedules, and ensuring compliance with quality standards to support both lithographic and digital printing processes.

Department: Factory (Pre-Press)

Reporting to: Technical Manager

Key Responsibilities

1. Desktop Publishing & Pre-Press Design: Create page layouts, manipulate graphics, and design templates using Adobe Creative Suite.
2. Photo Manipulation & Proofing: Retouch images, apply color corrections, and verify proofs prior to plate production.
3. Production Planning: Coordinate resources and plan pre-press activities to meet production deadlines.
4. Lithographic Plate Production: Handle and prepare litho plates with precision and maintain accurate registration.
5. Team Supervision: Oversee production staff, manage overtime schedules, and enforce compliance with company standards.
6. Resource & Waste Management: Optimize material usage and implement waste-reduction strategies.
7. Record Keeping & Housekeeping: Maintain accurate production records and uphold a clean, organized work area.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

1. Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
2. Strong understanding of pre-press and printing workflows.
3. Excellent eye for color theory, typography, and layout design.
4. Strong time management, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
5. Experience with proofing methods and lithographic production processes.

Qualifications & Experience

1. Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design, Desktop Publishing, or a related field.
2. Certification in Pre-Press or Lithographic Printing is a plus.
3. Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
4. Proficient in operating pre-press software and equipment.
