To provide adequate, functional and sterilized instrument sets and packs to the operating theatre and other nursing units in the hospital.

1. Ensure patient safety by providing adequate, sterile and functional equipment on time.
2. Ensure optimal care and maintenance of capital equipment to minimize clinical and financial risks.
3. Ensure cost-effective use of pharmaceutical stock to meet the daily requirements of the operating theatre and other nursing units.
4. Ensure Infection Prevention and Control standards are met according to policies and procedures.
5. Adhere to standardized workflow processes in order to minimize risks.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Grade 12 or Equivalent Qualification

DESIRED EDUCATION: CSSD and/or IPC CPD Course

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Experience in the cleaning / sterilization of instruments and equipment

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Experience as CSSD Technician

• Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
• Stock control processes
• Knowledge of personal and environmental hygiene
• Knowledge of IPC protocols and principles
• Knowledge of the CSSD basic functions
