Creditors Clerk

The Creditors Clerk will be responsible for carrying out accounting and administrative duties relating to the processing and payment of local and foreign suppliers’ invoices, reconciliation of statements, follow up on unpaid suppliers, obtaining statements and invoices and to provide financial support to all functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and experience in financial record-keeping.

Your role

1. Processing of suppliers’ invoices after matching against purchase orders and goods received notes with reference to quantities, quality, description and price.
2. Processing of suppliers’ invoices without purchase orders and ensuring these invoices are properly authorised in accordance with the appropriate levels of authority.
3. Ensure the correct General Ledger account & supplier account is utilised when processing invoices.
4. Ensure that the correct VAT is applied to invoices and that valid tax invoices are received.
5. Preparation and submission of creditors’ reconciliations with supplier statements.
6. Preparation and timeous submission of suppliers’ payment.
7. Investigate and clear outstanding items on reconciliations.
8. Attend to queries internally and from suppliers regarding outstanding invoices or payments.
9. Forward remittance advices and reconciliations to suppliers after completion of payment run.
10. File all invoices after payment run according to the agreed filing protocols.
11. Monthly analysis of the creditors listing and clearing of old unpaid invoices.
12. Ensure Advance Payments made in IFS are correct and cleared with valid tax invoices.
13. Assisting with queries from auditors.
14. Any ad-hoc duties, which are assigned.

Your profile

1. At least 5 years experience as a Creditors Clerk in a medium to large international company working with local and foreign suppliers and in different currencies.
2. Knowledge of accounting system e.g IFS
3. Computer literacy with intermediate excel skills
4. Must have a good knowledge of finance routines and best practices.
5. Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills
6. Strong numerical and analytical skills
7. Attention to detail and accuracy
