Job description

Salary Range : R700K R900K CTC per annum pending proven experience

Reporting Line : Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Direct Reports : Cost Controllers and Debtors Clerks

Role Overview :

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Credit Risk Manager to lead and manage the credit function of our logistics operations based in Bellville South. This pivotal role is responsible for maintaining the financial health of the company by overseeing credit assessments managing customer credit limits and leading a team to mitigate and manage risk efficiently across our debtors book. The ideal candidate will combine strategic thinking with strong leadership and risk management capabilities to support the companys growth while maintaining sustainable credit practices.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Customer Credit Management :

Review and approve customer credit limits and payment terms based on regular assessments of creditworthiness.

  • Negotiate payment terms that ensure a healthy balance between company cash flow and customer flexibility.
  • Internal Policy and Process Development :

Review streamline and update internal credit approval procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance with best practices.

  • Staff Training and Management :

Ensure that all credit control staff are adequately trained and up to date with current credit risk protocols and customer service standards.

  • Lead and manage the credit team setting clear performance objectives and providing ongoing support and mentorship.
  • Credit Risk Mitigation :

Implement and maintain bestpractice credit control procedures to reduce exposure to unacceptable credit risks across the group.

  • Engage proactively with customers to foster strong trustbased relationships.
  • Insurance and Compliance :

Liaise with credit insurers to maintain effective cover and ensure timely renewal of all policies.

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with all credit insurance policy requirements to avoid any coverage issues.
  • Debt Management and Reporting :

Support and guide the team in effective debt collection strategies focusing on highrisk accounts.

  • Provide regular and accurate reports on the debtors book aged receivables and overall credit performance.
  • Strategic Risk Oversight :

Proactively manage and monitor the credit risk landscape identifying emerging risks and implementing mitigating strategies promptly.

  • Team Leadership and Culture Building :

Build and nurture a highperforming team through consistent leadership mentoring and professional development.

Key Requirements :

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance Accounting or Risk Management.
  • Proven experience in a senior credit control or risk management role ideally within the logistics or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of credit insurance financial analysis and debt collection strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
