Credit Controller

Leading medical suppliers requires an experienced Credit Controller to join their team in Johannesburg South.

The Credit Controller is responsible for managing debtor accounts, ensuring timely collections, reconciling customer accounts, and maintaining accurate financial records.

The role plays a critical part in minimising bad debts and managing cash flow by ensuring that outstanding invoices are paid according to agreed terms.

The Credit Controller also provides excellent customer service by resolving queries and maintaining good relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Required Learning:

Matric with Accountancy

Certificate / Diploma in Credit Management would be an advantage

Minimum 5 years experience in Credit Control Department

Collections experience with private and government hospitals or government accounts will secure

Debt Collection and Account Management:

1. Proactively manage customer accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding debts.
2. Timeous release of orders on credit hold
3. Preparation of payment packs to customers
4. Follow up on overdue payments in line with company credit policies and escalate where necessary.
5. Achieve monthly and quarterly collection targets set by the Credit Control Supervisor.

Reconciliation of Accounts:

1. Accurately allocate payments to customer accounts and reconcile discrepancies timeously.
2. Resolve customer queries related to accounts, invoices, or payments, ensuring issues are addressed promptly.
3. Manage customer rebate and advertising claims within agreed deadlines.

Reporting and Analysis:

1. Prepare and submit accurate monthly reports on debtors, provisions, and aged accounts receivable within deadlines.
2. Monitor account performance and proactively identify and report potential bad debts.
3. Support in preparing management reports and provide insights on debtor performance trends.

Risk Management and Compliance:

1. Maintain robust controls and procedures to minimise the risk of bad debts.
2. Ensure compliance with company credit policies and relevant legal regulations.
3. Identify high-risk accounts and recommend appropriate actions, including credit holds or legal proceedings.

Customer Service and Communication:

1. Provide excellent service to both external customers and internal teams, always maintaining professional and positive communication.
2. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to facilitate timely payments and resolve any issues efficiently.
