Job description

Leading organization that supplies Maritime Cranes & Construction Machines requires a Field Service Technician for KZN.

Qualifications:
  • Degree / NQF6 or NQF7 or Diploma
  • Proven technical skills with hands-on experience working with industrial automation, drive systems, and H.V equipment
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of large industrial systems
  • Cranes experience will secure
Reporting Line:

Reports to the Customer Service Team Leader - Container Cranes.

Role Responsibilities:
  1. Commissioning: Oversee commissioning, testing, and handover of STS, RTG & RMG Cranes, ensuring they are operational, meet customer specifications, and are handed over successfully.
  2. Field Support: Provide field service support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for cranes.
  3. Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and customers to meet project deliverables, resolve technical issues efficiently, and maintain client satisfaction.
  4. Travel: Regular travel around KZN is required.
Key Tasks:
  • Represent the company on-site during commissioning.
  • Coordinate with design, production, service, and installation teams for seamless commissioning.
  • Manage on-site commissioning activities post-installation.
  • Complete testing procedures and handover documentation per project requirements.
  • Prepare and present technical reports after project completion.
  • Execute commissioning activities such as start-up, hardware verification, and optimization.
  • Calibrate and test variable speed inverter drives up to 1 MW.
  • Test, verify, and debug PLC software systems.
  • Conduct performance testing and customer training on crane operation and maintenance.
Field Service Tasks:
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and software updates.
  • Respond promptly to technical support calls and emergencies.
  • Ensure repairs and services comply with safety standards.
  • Act as a liaison with customers, providing feedback for product improvement.
  • Mentor junior technicians on-site.
  • Assist in evaluating and improving service protocols.
