The Operations Manager at TCS (Takealot Courier Services) is responsible for managing and optimising courier operations, including inbound and outbound logistics, parcel collection, delivery operations, vehicle and MHE management, and sales and marketing of services. The incumbent will ensure operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and continuous process improvements.
Key Responsibilities :
Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day courier operations of inbound and outbound logistics and parcel collection.
- Ensure parcels are collected, handled, and delivered efficiently and on time.
- Coordinate resources including personnel, vehicles, and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to optimize service delivery.
Vehicle and MHE Management
- Oversee the maintenance and efficient use of vehicles and Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
- Implement and maintain tracking systems to monitor fleet performance and MHE usage.
- Plan and coordinate vehicle use to maximize asset productivity.
- Optimize trip planning and vehicle utilization through effective route management.
Sales and Marketing
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to promote courier services.
- Participate in marketing initiatives and maintain strong relationships with key clients.
- Support tracking of sales performance against targets and assist in implementing measures to achieve them.
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of operations staff and drivers.
- Facilitate training and ensure team alignment with company standards.
Process Improvement
- Identify operational improvement areas and implement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety protocols.
Customer Satisfaction
- Ensure timely onboarding of new customers.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve delivery-related issues.
- Maintain high customer satisfaction levels through effective service delivery.
Budget and Financial Management
- Prepare and manage operations budgets.
- Conduct weekly cost vs. budget reviews and implement corrective actions.
Reporting and Analysis
- Generate regular reports on operational performance and key metrics.
- Use analysis to drive continuous improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Extensive experience with ShipLogics.
- Proven experience in operations management within the courier or logistics industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in logistics software, Microsoft Office, and Google Suites.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
