Job description

Job Purpose:

To oversee and manage courier operations across the assigned region, ensuring optimal service delivery, efficient resource management, cost control, and customer satisfaction. This role is responsible for leading depot managers and operational staff, driving performance, compliance, and continuous improvement across multiple branches.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operational Oversight:

Ensure effective day-to-day courier operations across Port Elizabeth, Mthatha, East London, and George, including last-mile delivery and collections.

• Team Leadership:

Manage and mentor depot managers and their teams to ensure productivity, accountability, and performance targets are met or exceeded.

• Performance Management:

Monitor KPIs, service levels, and delivery timelines. Implement corrective actions where needed to meet operational goals.

• Customer Service:

Ensure consistent and high-quality service to customers, resolving escalated queries efficiently and professionally.

• Logistics & Routing:

Oversee route planning and fleet utilization to optimize delivery efficiency and minimize costs.

• Compliance & Safety:

Ensure all depots comply with company policies, health and safety standards, and relevant transport regulations.

• Budget & Cost Control:

Manage regional budgets, monitor expenses, and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising service quality.

• Reporting:

Provide regular operational reports and insights to senior management, highlighting risks, opportunities, and performance trends.

• Continuous Improvement:

Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and best practices across all courier branches.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in courier, logistics, or transport management, with at least 2 years in a regional/area management role.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Proven track record in operations management and performance optimization.
• Solid understanding of courier logistics, routing, and last-mile delivery.
• Proficient in MS Office and logistics management systems.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within the region.
