Job Description

The purpose of this role is to provide effective control, management, and supervision of stock (final product) in the New Market Cold Store whilst maintaining efficiencies, quality, and cost control. County Fair, a Division of Astral Operations Limited, has this great opportunity based at the New Market Cold Store facility in Epping.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Overall supervision and management of final products, overseeing proper storage, organization, and maintenance of stock.
  2. Coordinating the movement of final products between the Cold Storage facility and external storage areas, ensuring accurate records.
  3. Facilitating internal stock transfers across different sections of the warehouse to meet production or distribution demands.
  4. Addressing potential delays in stock movement or transfers, implementing strategies to minimize disruptions.
  5. Ensuring effective stock storage procedures including proper marking, stacking, and labeling of products.
  6. Supervising handling of returned products and overseeing the credit process for proper documentation.
  7. Coordinating stock movements to and from external storage facilities, optimizing logistics.
  8. Monitoring and optimizing freezer space utilization.
  9. Enforcing compliance with company and client standards, focusing on Food Safety and Documentation Control.
  10. Ensuring proper stock rotation based on expiry dates.
  11. Conducting facility inspections to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
  12. Leading and developing the staff involved in stock management.
  13. Creating and maintaining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reports.
  14. Monitoring and controlling budget and expenses related to stock control.
  15. Implementing the "20 Keys" methodology for continuous improvement.
  16. Performing regular stock takes and reconciling inventory.
  17. Managing housekeeping activities and coordinating repairs for racking and storage equipment.
  18. Communicating with internal and external colleagues to ensure a high standard of work.
  19. Maintaining a consistent and efficient stock flow from storage areas to required locations.

The requirements for the position are:

  1. Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
  2. A tertiary qualification will be an advantage.
  3. Minimum of 3 years' experience in FMCG stock control, logistics, or warehouse management.
  4. Advanced computer skills, including high levels of data entry speed and accuracy.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Internet Explorer, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel - advanced level).
  6. Experience with INFOR LN or any ERP system.
  7. WMS experience is advantageous.
  8. Good understanding of warehouse operations and material handling equipment.
  9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  10. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  11. Must be numerate and literate.
  12. Ability to communicate well in both English and Afrikaans.
  13. Self-driven, responsible, and able to use initiative.
  14. Able to work under pressure and resolve queries swiftly.
  15. Basic understanding of the 20 Keys concept is essential.
  16. Must be able to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
  17. Valid driver's license and own transport is essential.
  18. Extra hours may be required, including evenings, public holidays, or weekends.
  19. Perform other reasonable duties as requested by senior management.
