Country Manager – Metals

Redstone Commodity Search is working with an international trading house looking to hire a country manager to join their commercial team in South Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement efficient supply chain strategies, ensuring timely procurement of commodities within budget and quality standards.
• Negotiate favourable terms and pricing with suppliers to drive cost savings and optimise sourcing practices.
• Evaluate, select, and manage vendor relationships, including performance monitoring and fostering long-term partnerships.
• Monitor market trends and risks, providing actionable insights to inform sourcing and procurement decisions.
• Ensure compliance with project budgets and timelines while adhering to organisational procurement policies.

Key Experiences and Qualifications:

• Proven experience in strategic sourcing with a strong ability to influence business strategy and manage vendor relations.
• Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, including at least 7 years in South Africa, and expertise in procuring minerals like chrome, manganese, copper, zinc, and tin.
• Strong negotiation skills with hands-on experience in driving favourable outcomes.
• A relevant degree, ideally at a Master’s level (Bachelor’s degrees will be considered for exceptional candidates); engineering background preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office and a data-driven, analytical mindset with excellent organisational skills.
