Job description

Job Title: Cost Controller GRV

Our client, a leading mining company, is seeking to hire a Cost Controller GRV to join their team based in Rosebank, Johannesburg, on a 42-month contract. Reporting to the Project Procurement Manager, the successful candidate will control costs in the Goods Received Voucher (GRV) process by ensuring alignment of purchase orders, received goods, and invoices, while providing cost management insights to stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements
  • National Diploma in Management Accounting / Finance (NQF 6)
  • B-Financial degree, e.g., B. Com or Degree in Management Accounting (NQF 7) - preferred
  • 3-5 years' experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting, focusing on the GRV process, procurement-related cost control, financial governance, and compliance
  • Experience from mining, heavy construction, or procurement industry is advantageous
  • Advanced MS Excel Skills, including financial modelling, data reconciliation, and analysis functions
  • Understanding of project management principles and their application in cost control
  • In-depth knowledge of financial principles, accounting systems (GAAP, IFRS), and governance frameworks such as King III
  • Strong procurement process knowledge, including goods received verification and reconciliation
  • Knowledge of contract management principles and their financial implications
  • Familiarity with financial tracking systems, GRV systems, and ERP tools
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpreting complex financial information
  • Valid driver's license and own vehicle
Technical Skills
  • Expertise in verifying and reconciling goods received vouchers against purchase orders, invoices, and budgets
  • Proficiency in using financial systems for tracking and reporting GRV transactions
  • Strong skills in budget monitoring, variance analysis, and identifying cost-saving opportunities
  • Ability to maintain audit-ready financial records for GRV processes
  • Excellent presentation skills, especially on GRV financial performance
  • Ensuring compliance with procurement policies, financial governance standards, and regulatory requirements
Main Duties
Performance and Delivery
  • Verify the accuracy of goods received vouchers against purchase orders, invoices, and budgets
  • Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues with procurement, finance, and suppliers
  • Monitor GRV processes for accurate financial records and cost allocation
  • Maintain proper documentation for audit and compliance
  • Develop systems to track GRV costs and provide updates to relevant teams
Financial Reporting and Analysis
  • Analyze GRV costs and their impact on project budgets, identifying reduction opportunities
  • Prepare monthly financial reports on GRV activities
  • Conduct analyses to improve efficiency of GRV and procurement processes
  • Provide variance analyses and communicate over-cost issues to stakeholders
Compliance and Process Improvement
  • Ensure GRV processes comply with policies, guidelines, and regulations
  • Continuously improve financial controls related to GRV
  • Contribute to cost control strategies for GRV and procurement
Stakeholder Engagement and Support
  • Collaborate with procurement, supply chain, and finance teams to manage risks
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and auditors
  • Provide financial guidance on GRV processes
  • Support project managers in aligning expenditures with project goals
Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE)
  • Adhere to SHE policies and report unsafe practices
  • Participate in safety initiatives and risk assessments
