Job Title: Cost and Management Accountant - Bio-Refinery Sector

Job Type: Full-Time

Hire Resolve's Client is seeking to hire a Cost and Management Accountant to join their team in Saldanha Bay. An opportunity is available for a detail-oriented and experienced Cost and Management Accountant to join a finance team operating within the bio-refinery industry. This role merges general accounting responsibilities with payroll administration, focusing on accurate financial reporting, cost control, and adherence to tax and labour regulations. Ideal candidates will bring experience from industrial or manufacturing environments and demonstrate capability in supporting both financial and HR-related functions.

Key Responsibilities:

General Accounting:

  • Maintain accurate financial records and perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
  • Monitor production costs, raw material usage, energy consumption, and yield variances.
  • Handle fixed asset accounting and manage depreciation schedules.
  • Support the budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis functions.
  • Assist in internal and external audits while ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
  • Track capital projects and operational expenditures.
  • Collaborate with operations, procurement, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment between financial records and plant activities.

Payroll Administration:
  • Manage the payroll process for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable labour and tax laws.
  • Maintain up-to-date payroll records, including information on new hires, terminations, bonuses, deductions, and leave.
  • Ensure timely disbursement of wages and remittance of payroll-related taxes.
  • Reconcile payroll transactions with the general ledger.
  • Prepare payroll reports for internal stakeholders and external compliance (e.g., tax submissions and benefits reporting).
  • Partner with HR to uphold confidentiality and accuracy in employee compensation records.
  • Keep abreast of updates to payroll legislation, labour laws, and industry agreements

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, including at least 1 year of hands-on payroll processing.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting, particularly within industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Competency with accounting and payroll systems such as Sage Cloud Accounting and Sage Cloud Business Payroll.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of labour regulations, tax filings, and employee benefits administration.
  • High attention to detail, analytical ability, and effective communication skills.

Preferred Attributes:
  • Prior experience in the bio-refinery, chemical, renewable energy, or process manufacturing sectors.
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting, carbon credit accounting, or tracking of government-funded initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and data accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
