Job summary

A leading recruitment firm seeks a skilled Cost Accountant to promote effective inventory management and financial accuracy in a manufacturing environment. Qualifications

  • 3 years in Cost Accounting, preferably in Manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of inventory valuation and reconciliation.
  • CIMA qualification or in progress preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate recording and monitoring of inventory costing.
  • Manage fixed asset registers and provide external audit support.
  • Develop key internal controls and implement business system improvements.

Job description

Reporting to the Financial Executive. The main purpose of the role will be to ensure that all inventory costing elements of the business are consistently and accurately recorded and monitored.

Overview of key activities :

  • Inventory valuation including cost roll-ups
  • Reconciliation of inventory general-ledger to warehouse sub-ledger
  • Landed cost maintenance
  • Master data management
  • Import permit (470.03) and duty rebates management
  • Production and labour efficiency tracking
  • Production orders closing and providing feedback
  • Analytical costing responsibilities and variance analysis
  • Capital acquisition tracking in projects module
  • Fixed asset register management
  • External audit support
  • Assist with developing and maintaining key internal controls
  • Perform an active role in implementing business system improvements
  • Perform any other duties as deemed necessary and requested by the Financial Executive
  • Reporting responsibilities
  • Management of interns

The Requirements are as follows :

  • B.Com (Management Accounting, Accounting) - Essential
  • 3 years Cost Accounting experience - Essential (preferably in a Manufacturing Environment)
  • MS Office experience (MS Excel - at least intermediate level) - Essential
  • CIMA (or studying towards) - Preferred
  • ERP integrated Business system experience - Preferred
