Our client, a trusted contract manufacturer known for their quality, creativity, and customer-centric approach are currently seeking a highly experienced Cosmetics Formulatory Technician to spearhead formulation development and innovation in their R&D department in Parow, Western Cape.

Position : Cosmetics Formulatory Technician

Location : Parow, Western Cape

Minimum Qualifying Criteria :

• Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
• Experience : 5–10 years of hands-on experience in formulating personal care products (hair care, skin care, body care).
• Industry Exposure : Strong background in ISO / GMP-compliant environments. Experience with private label or contract manufacturing is highly desirable.

Roles and Responsibilities :

Formulation Expertise

Skilled in developing emulsions, gels, serums, lotions, sprays, and shampoos.

Deep understanding of ingredient interaction and compatibility.

Experience with natural / synthetic actives, preservatives, and emulsifiers.

Supports scale-up and ensures batch reproducibility.

Stability & Compatibility Testing

Designs and interprets accelerated stability and packaging compatibility studies.

Troubleshoots formulation stability and performance issues.

Scale-Up & Manufacturing Support

Collaborates with production to scale lab formulas to manufacturing.

Develops and reviews MBRs and SOPs.

Regulatory Knowledge

Familiar with INCI, SAHPRA, EU Cosmetic Regulations, and FDA standards.

Experience preparing PIFs and SDS documentation.

Laboratory Management

Oversees lab assistants, maintains equipment, inventory, and lab hygiene
