About the Role
Our client seeks a highly skilled and analytical Corporate Tax Lawyer to provide expert advice on tax matters impacting their business operations in Vereeniging . This role requires a deep understanding of South African tax legislation and its implications for corporate structuring, transactions, and compliance. You will work closely with the finance and legal departments to optimize tax strategies and mitigate risks. The ideal candidate will possess excellent research capabilities and the ability to translate complex tax laws into practical business solutions, supporting a forward-thinking organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive tax advice on corporate structuring, mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant tax legislation, including income tax, VAT, and other indirect taxes.
- Assist in managing tax audits and disputes with the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
- Review and advise on the tax implications of commercial contracts and transactions.
- Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities legally.
- Stay abreast of changes in tax law and advise the business accordingly.
Requirements
- Admitted Attorney or Chartered Accountant with a specialization in tax law and a minimum of 6 years' experience.
- In-depth knowledge of the Income Tax Act, VAT Act, and other relevant tax legislation.
- Proven experience in corporate tax planning, advisory, and compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to non-tax professionals.
- Experience with international tax matters is a plus.
