Job description

We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for a suitably qualified Corporate Foreign Exchange Trader to join CFAO Holdings South Africa's Treasury Department.

This is a locally based permanent contract in Johannesburg, South Africa.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB : The Foreign Exchange Trader is responsible for buying and selling currencies on behalf of Subsidiaries & Head Office SA.

They monitor market trends, economic indicators, and execute trades to maximize profits and minimize risks.

This role requires a deep understanding of global financial markets, strong analytical skills, and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.

This role will also support all aspects related to foreign currency management for all subsidiaries (except CFAO Mobility).

It will ensure all Forex exposures are hedged and converted within minimal lead time.

Additionally, the role involves managing interest impacts and ensuring cash liquidity is available as required for foreign currency transactions.

Profile Experience and Educational Requirements

  • Qualification: BCom / Banking degree / Treasury Diploma or equivalent
  • 10+ years of bank and/or corporate treasury experience, front and/or middle office
  • Good understanding of economic impacts, domestic and foreign markets
  • Intermediate computer literacy (MS Office, Excel mandatory, SAP preferred)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Daily Processes
  • Daily reconciliation of Foreign Currency (CFC) bank accounts on Kyriba
  • Update daily foreign exchange forecasts into Kyriba
  • Manage liquidity for all subsidiaries (excluding CMSA)
  • Manage FX trading limits for all subsidiaries (excluding CMSA)
  • Ensure daily rates are accurate and aligned in ERPs and communicated to the business
  • Update and verify ED rates daily
  • Manage daily Forex positions
  • Import open items daily into the TMS system accurately
  • Ensure Exchange Control compliance on all hedging transactions
  • Capture external FEC deals into TMS and validate journal postings
  • Update foreign currency loans and overdrafts on Kyriba and communicate completion with CCMD
Domestic Cash Management & Ad-Hoc Processes
  • Audit and PACI deliverables
  • Update interest rates related to CFC accounts
  • Support treasury system improvements in collaboration with the Head of Treasury
  • Perform other ad-hoc treasury duties as required
  • Provide weekly feedback to the Head of Treasury about team activities
  • Act as backup for treasury team members
  • Manage banking platforms as needed
  • Update dealing mandates as necessary
Reporting Requirements
  • Complete all required reports weekly, monthly, and quarterly
  • Update bank register with maturing foreign currency deals on Kyriba
  • Compile and investigate reports as needed
  • Check and update month-end closing rates, schedules, and submit to the business
  • Confirm month-end balances for foreign deposits and borrowings
  • Reconcile, submit, and recover intercompany interest on foreign loans
  • Reconcile FEC accounts and MTM positions for subsidiaries (excluding CMSA)
  • Verify HFM MTM reconciliation
  • Reconcile lead days for subsidiaries (excluding CMSA)
  • Compile and analyze month-end positions, presenting findings to teams
  • Provide feedback on position issues to the Head of Treasury monthly
  • Reconcile allocations for all subsidiaries (excluding CMSA)
