Job description

The Risk Management Department is looking for a Credit Risk Analyst to grow corporate and investment banking and trade related revenues through the management of risk and effectively increase the volumes of the loan book. To provide sound credit recommendations based on effective risk analysis to place quality assets onto the loan book and continue to monitor and mitigate against various risks across the branch.

Responsibilities

  • Do credit risk views on business products mainly on a bilateral and syndicated loans.
  • Drafting due diligence reports (credit risk reports) and assist Credit Risk Manager's with workflow based on credit applications from client facing business units serving clients both locally and internationally.
  • Compiling an assessment of post lending management reports, annual reviews, monitoring progress of developments, reporting on bilateral and syndication post-lending requirements and covenants as well as dealing with ad-hoc reporting as required.
  • Actively engage with members of the Credit Review Committee (CRC) locally and abroad to present risk findings and deal with queries from submission up to when a decision is finalised.
  • Assist with the process on high risk and non-performing loan recovery accounts to ensure there is consistent progress on account repayments and collections for those accounts that are handed over.
  • Monitor the watch list accounts and ensure risk reports are submitted to HO if there are major risk events.

Requirements

  • Relevant BComm/Finance degree as a minimum requirement
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant corporate credit experience (large companies / JSE listed companies). Experience in CIB department preferred
  • In depth knowledge of the South African Company act, Banks Act, Basel III, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience in dealing with different credit products across various industries.
  • Experience with credit risk views on bilateral and syndicated loans.
  • Competent in performing analysis of financial statements, cash flows, projections, and other financial trend information to assess risk on large corporates
  • Bilingual candidates with Mandarin advantageous
