Takealot is seeking a highly talented Copywriter & Content Producer to join our team in Cape Town. The role requires an exceptional content producer and storyteller—someone who can conceptualise, write and edit sharp, scroll-stopping content for Takealot Marketplace.

This position reports to the Content Production Manager. You will be responsible for communicating the voice, tone, and creative consistency of Takealot while producing content that drives engagement, talkability and conversion

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field required.
• Minimum 5 years in eCommerce/content production/digital communications.
• Proven ability to write and edit high-volume content.

• Write and adapt compelling copies for a range of channels, ensuring clarity and on-brand storytelling.

• Stay on the pulse of SA content marketing trends, audience behaviour, and competitor activity.
• Measure, analyse, and report on content performance to refine tone and direction.
• Understand and respond to creative and marketing briefs to effectively plan and brief collaborators.

Purpose of the role: The role requires an exceptional content producer and storyteller — someone whocan conceptualise, write and edit sharp, scroll-stopping content for TakealotMarketplace. They will be responsible for communicating the voice, tone, andcreative consistency of Takealot while producing content that drives measurableengagement, talkability, and conversion across platforms where Takealot’s audiencelives.

This position reports to the Content Production Manager

Your responsibilities will include:

• Marketing Content:Plan, write, and edit high-volume content, managing concept through execution whileensuring alignment with Takealot’s Marketing, Marketplace, and Content Strategy.
• Copywriting Excellence: Write and adapt compelling copies for a range of channels, ensuring clarity,emotional resonance, and on-brand storytelling.
• Creative Concept Development:Collaborate with Marketing and Takealot Marketplace teams to ideate and executestrong creative concepts that bring on-brand campaigns to life.
• Research & Insights:Stay on the pulse of South African content marketing trends, audience behaviour, and competitor activity to strengthen creative outputs and keep content relevant andtalk worthy.
• Performance & Optimisation: Measure, analyse, and report on content performance to refine tone, messaging, and creative direction — ensuring future content is data-led and impactful.
• Collaboration & Brief Management:Understand and respond to creative and marketing briefs to effectively plan and briefcollaborators.

Qualification & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Communications,Copywriting, English Language or related degree.
• A minimum of 5 years working in eCommerce/E- learning/content productionand/or related digital communications.

• Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail and a well-structuredthought process.
• Ability to multi-task and to meet tight deadlines.
• Very strong interpersonal skills and experience in marshalling cross-departmental resources towards daily goals and objectives.
