An established East London law firm is seeking a dedicated Conveyancing Legal Secretary to join their conveyancing team. This role presents an excellent opportunity for a proactive and professional individual to support a busy fee earner.

The Conveyancing Legal Secretary's Role

The successful Conveyancing Legal Secretary will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to the fee earner to enable them to focus on delivering exceptional legal services to clients. This role is integral in managing the day-to-day workload and ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and with the utmost professionalism.

As a client-facing position, it is crucial that the Conveyancing Legal Secretary is a confident communicator, capable of handling sensitive client interactions with discretion. The role demands a proactive approach in dealing with both clients and colleagues.

The Conveyancing Legal Secretary

To excel in this role, the Conveyancing Legal Secretary should have the following skills and experience:

  • Proficient in audio typing and capable of drafting documents from audio dictation.
  • Experience in opening new files and completing Anti-Money Laundering checks.
  • Competence in handling general administration tasks, including photocopying, printing, scanning, and organising couriers.
  • Ability to manage post and emails, ensuring timely responses and efficient communication.
  • Experience in preparing and submitting SDLT, AP1, and FR1 applications via the Land Registry online portal.
  • Familiarity with using conveyancing panel portals such as LMS and Lender Exchange.
  • Capable of preparing bills, liaising with fee earners and the accounts department as required.
  • Ability to provide reception cover when necessary and manage telephone queries effectively.
  • Knowledge of requesting cheques, bank transfers, and processing received payments.
