Our client, a company specializing in perishable logistics, is looking for a Sea Freight Controller Assistant.
You will be joining a team that supports and assists one another.
Coordinate the movement of freight from farm to end user, listening to customer needs, contacting shipping lines, compiling quotes, and arranging road freight from various inland locations to the facility for repacking into sea freight containers.
Client etiquette: take requests from clients and assist throughout the sea freight process.
Provide clients with accurate cost estimates, including shipping line charges and company agency fees.
Forward orders to relevant international offices and monitor accordingly.
Maintain good relationships with shipping lines and road freight facilities.
Obtain authorization from clients to make shipment bookings.
Coordinate the processing of required port release papers.
Save images from WhatsApp onto the laptop and organize them per shipment on the company common drive.
Send pre-alert images.
Book road carriers for inland transport to the specific port when required.
Book sea freights online with various shipping departments.
Follow up and confirm that vessel details are unchanged.
Prepare and compare invoices to quotes to ensure correct billing.
Correctly stuff a container per commodity, repacking from trucking trailers into shipping containers.
Process customs clearance documentation, including commercial invoices and various certificates.
Send status reports to clients for tracking.
Ensure all customer requirements are processed prior to customs clearance.
Prepare documentation and submit to the Customs Department for processing customs entry.
Follow up on customs releases, stops, detains, and arrange examinations where necessary.
Apply for release from shipping lines and agents.
Arrange Delivery Release Orders or Container Terminal Orders where applicable.
Obtain shipping line or agents' charges.
Maintain close liaison with clients to keep them updated on the progress of clearances and delivery of their cargo.
Correspond with Vessel's Agents.
Scan PODs and file accordingly, ensuring they are stamped and signed where needed.
Fill in shipping instructions correctly.
Experience: Excellent administration skills. Proficient in Excel. Ability to multitask.
Qualification: Matric. Any qualification in a related field.
Package & Remuneration: Market related.
