Job description

An exciting opportunity exists for a Control Engineer to join a leading manufacturing organization based in Pietermaritzburg. The ideal candidate will be a solutions-driven professional with a strong technical background and a passion for optimizing complex industrial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, focusing on quality, throughput, equipment availability, and safety.

  • Lead fault-finding efforts, conduct root cause analyses, and develop optimal solutions for complex process-related issues.

  • Understand, maintain, and optimize advanced process control systems.

  • Implement and manage preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.

  • Execute and oversee specialized engineering projects.

  • Utilize modern IT tools to analyze, plan, and optimize manufacturing operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BSc or BEng in Electrical, Electronic, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a heavy process manufacturing environment.

  • Proficient in working with advanced control systems and real-time controllers such as PLC/DCS.

  • Strong computer literacy with experience in development/application tools and statistical process control.

  • Experience with system integration across various control platforms.

  • Knowledge of industrial data storage, server management, and structured programming languages (e.g., C) is advantageous.

  • Ability to remain adaptable and perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • A proactive, analytical, and hands-on approach, with strong collaboration skills within a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
