He / She reports to the Legal Manager and interacts with business, technical, execution, financing, and management teams from various locations. The role involves working with various teams within TotalEnergies to deliver projects and maintaining direct contact with third parties such as partners, contractors, advisors (technical, legal), and lenders.
This position may require business travel.
Ideally, as a Contracts Manager, you would possess the following:
- Minimum 7 years of experience working with large wind, PV, or energy storage projects in the renewable energy industry, preferably in the REIPPPP. Previous experience interacting with ESKOM on self-built projects is highly preferred.
- Professional certification in contracts management is recommended.
- Ability to understand and analyze non-contractual matters such as engineering, cost control, planning, and construction to provide relevant contractual support.
- A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach with strong communication skills.
- Team player capable of working independently, managing workload and priorities effectively.
- Strong preference for South African citizens, with previously disadvantaged individuals being an additional preference.
As a Contracts Manager, your responsibilities include:
- Supporting the development team during the bidding phase to prepare term sheets and relevant documentation related to EPC and O&M contractors.
- Negotiating contracts with contractors post-award.
- Leading and directing all contractual aspects of project execution, including risk assessment.
- Having detailed knowledge of the Power Purchase Agreement, EPC contract, O&M agreement, and various project agreements, permits, and consents, and managing stakeholders accordingly.
- Responding effectively to correspondence from various counterparties and ensuring the company's interests are protected.
- Monitoring project progress in line with the contract schedule and ensuring adherence to the program.
- Interfacing with senior management, finance, and legal personnel to meet project deliverables.
- Establishing procedures for the award and administration of project contracts.
- Verifying contractor invoices with the owner’s engineer and processing payments.
- Understanding and preparing invoicing procedures and working closely with the model consultant on finalizing the settlement system and plant model software.
- Monitoring and managing the company's registration documents, certifications, construction permits, project-related permits, NOCs, and ensuring timely renewals.
