Context & Environment
He/She reports to the Legal Manager and interacts with business, technical, execution, financing, and management teams from various locations. The role involves collaboration within TotalEnergies to deliver projects and direct contact with third parties such as partners, contractors, advisors (technical, legal), and lenders.
This role may require business travel.
Activities
As a Contracts Manager, the ideal candidate would possess:
- Minimum 7 years of experience with large wind, PV, or energy storage projects in the renewable energy industry, preferably in the REIPPPP. Prior interaction with ESKOM on self-built projects is highly preferred.
- Professional certification in contracts management is recommended.
- Ability to understand and analyze non-contractual matters such as engineering, cost control, planning, and construction to provide contractual support.
- Collaborative, solutions-oriented approach with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage workload and priorities effectively, and be a team player.
- Strong preference for South African citizens, with a further preference for previously disadvantaged individuals.
Candidate Profile
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the development team during bidding to prepare term sheets and related documentation for EPC and O&M contractors.
- Negotiating contracts with contractors post-award.
- Leading contractual aspects of project execution, including risk assessment.
- Having detailed knowledge of Power Purchase Agreements, EPC contracts, O&M agreements, and project permits, managing stakeholders accordingly.
- Responding effectively to correspondence from counter parties to protect company interests.
- Monitoring project progress aligned with the contract schedule and ensuring adherence to the program.
- Collaborating with senior management, finance, and legal teams to meet project deliverables.
- Establishing procedures for contract award and administration.
- Verifying contractor invoices with the Owner's Engineer and processing payments.
- Understanding and preparing invoicing procedures, working closely with consultants on settlement systems and plant modeling software.
- Managing registration documents, certifications, permits, NOCs, and ensuring timely renewals.
