Job Description :
To be part of a first-class service operation that ensures response and follow-up on all breakdowns, and that all customers are handled within company KPIs with professionalism. Develop and lead a successful service team that provides service excellence to all contract customers. Ensure that the Service team meets target revenue, margins, and expenses, and that all contract equipment is maintained to the highest standard at targeted cost levels. Develop the team in all necessary skills, both technical and business.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements :
- Forklift technical qualification or at least 7 years’ service management experience.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation regarding health and safety, environmental, and labour laws.
- Relevant computer skills including email, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working to and achieving deadlines monthly.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Lead the contracts service team to ensure growth targets for contract and accident damage revenue and profit are met or exceeded.
- Visit contract customers regularly to report on fleet management and ensure customer satisfaction with uptime, response, and service levels.
- Assist the service admin department in collecting excess hours for contract equipment.
- Ensure all contract technicians are busy, maximize productive time according to KPI’s, and obtain additional contract service work, including selling forks and tyres.
- Follow up on quotes for customer service and abuse work to ensure correct billing.
- Check that all contract equipment is maintained to high standards, scheduled servicing is on time, and equipment is in good condition.
- Manage costs of each contract machine, authorize purchase orders, and ensure expenses stay within budget.
- Schedule and monitor contract equipment and PMA load tests, ensuring hour meter readings are current.
- Check that technicians’ vehicles conform to road safety regulations, are clean, and tidy.
- Follow up to ensure jobs are completed within KPI’s, monitor open jobs, and cost completed jobs within two days.
- Address debtor queries promptly to meet debtor days targets.
- Authorize warranty work, ensure quality standards, and process claims timely.
- Ensure technician timesheets, leave, overtime, and standby claims are submitted correctly and on time.
- Hold weekly technicians’ meetings, record minutes, and communicate with management.
- Submit customer visit reports weekly for review.
- Assist credit controllers in resolving debtor queries to meet KPI’s.
- Meet all KPIs and commercial targets for the department.
- Collaborate internally to develop and achieve company budgets, performance, and strategic goals.
- Organize technical training programs for staff.
- Implement good people management practices, including performance reviews twice a year.
- Maintain low voluntary staff turnover.
- Adhere to health and safety, environmental, and company policies on site and at customer locations.
- Follow the company code of conduct and policies, ensuring staff compliance.
- Attend management meetings, communicate policies and updates effectively.
- Implement risk management policies to protect assets and personnel.
- Keep market pricing and competitive intelligence up to date, reporting changes to management.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly forecasts, and annual departmental budgets as requested.
