Job description

Responsibilities:

1. Provide security advice to clients.
2. Conduct threat and risk assessments.
3. Maintain professional client relationships and liaise effectively.
4. Manage manpower and equipment.
5. Handle and resolve client complaints effectively.
6. Ensure contractual requirements are consistently met.
7. Initiate and chair disciplinary hearings.
8. Manage incidents and investigations.
9. Ensure compliance with the company's disciplinary code.
10. Maintain knowledge of Health & Safety management.
11. Address security officers' reported problems.
12. Follow all company and client SOPs.
13. Adhere to BPC policies and procedures.
14. Conduct training to enhance staff performance and productivity.
15. Perform after-hours visits and standby duties.
16. Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
17. Assist with shift changes as a standby manager.
18. Attend meetings and respond to urgent calls, even on rest days.
19. Demonstrate extensive knowledge of security best practices, including physical and logical security aspects.

Preferred qualifications / attributes / skills :

1. Minimum of 5 years experience in the mining environment, preferably in PGM mining.
2. Security Management Diploma or Security B-Tech Degree or equivalent.
3. Experience in criminal and internal mine-related investigations.
4. SAPS experience is advantageous.
5. PSIRA Grade A certification.
6. Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
7. Firearm competency with a valid Regulation 21 certificate (9mm, Shotgun, Self-Loading Rifle, Carbine) is advantageous.
8. HIRA and Legal Liability training.
9. At least 10 years of managerial experience in a mining environment.
10. Confidence in dealing with the public and managing community unrest.
11. Bilingual in English and another South African language.
12. Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work long hours.
13. First aid and fire-fighting training are advantageous.
14. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
15. Computer literacy, especially MS Office and Excel.
16. Willingness to undergo a polygraph test.
17. Clean disciplinary, criminal, and credit records.
18. Code 8 Driver's License.
