Scope of Work

An opportunity exists for a Contracts Specialist to join the Strategy team of our large mining client.

Reporting to the Contracts Superintendent and working closely with the Senior Contracts Specialist in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.

Responsibilities

1. Support the Senior Contracts Specialist in delivering contracts for goods and services supporting mining activities.
2. Advise senior managers to mitigate contractual risks.
3. Manage tendering, negotiation, analysis, award, and administration of agreements for goods and services.
4. Conduct market intelligence to identify preferred contractors.
5. Lead negotiations on terms and conditions with suppliers.
6. Provide support and advice to internal stakeholders and procurement teams on commercial matters.
7. Prepare agreement documentation, recommend awards, and manage variations.
8. Oversee purchase order placement and management.
9. Resolve invoice mismatches, disputes, and claims.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years' experience in full lifecycle contract management.
• Experience in mining, resources, heavy industries, or construction (desirable).
• Experience in a coal mine is a plus.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, legal, or engineering disciplines.
• Strong commercial and business acumen.
• Ability to build effective stakeholder relationships.
