Job description

A multidisciplinary engineering consultancy known for delivering innovative and sustainable solutions in the built environment, is currently seeking a skilled Mechanical & Fire Engineer to join their dynamic team in Cape Town. This role is ideal for a driven professional ready to take ownership of Mechanical and Fire Engineering services within the Building Services sector.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical building services process from conceptualization through to design, implementation, and project closure.

  • Work autonomously and take full accountability for projects.

  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project integration.

  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of local codes and regulations, particularly SANS Codes and Rational Designs.

  • Contribute Fire Engineering expertise to improve safety and performance outcomes in building design.

  • Compile detailed specifications and bills of quantities specific to the mechanical scope.

  • Develop and present technical reports to keep stakeholders informed on project status and findings.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng or BSc).

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the Building Services Industry.

  • Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (or eligible to register).

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; knowledge of Revit is a strong advantage.

  • Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong understanding of fire engineering principles and local compliance standards.

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
