Job Summary
Overall job purpose

The External Sales Consultant is responsible for actively pursuing sales growth (volume and value) and service delivery competitiveness by:

  1. Owning & delivering on all individual performance targets for the allocated portfolio of external sales activities (Full accountability).
  2. Supporting collaborative sales activities between relationship banking, business banking, and corporate banking.
  3. Upholding sales disciplines required to support sustainable relationships in relevance to scheme management.
  4. Planning and conducting education on Absa’s value proposition to customers to support sales and migration targets within the area.
  5. Identifying opportunities and representing Absa in external sales engagements within assigned areas, e.g., workplace banking schemes, public forums, major events, festivals, etc.
  6. Improving overall Absa performance through the identification of sales and cross-sell opportunities and active engagement with colleagues across branches and regions to deliver these.
  7. Actively building networks and relationships within the assigned area to support lead generation and Absa visibility across the region.

Key accountabilities
Planning and Growth
  1. Achieving sales performance objectives in Inclusive Banking, Entry Level, and Bulk Acquisition Sales in the B2C environment.
  2. Delivering sales and service delivery targets within the assigned areas.
  3. Collaborating on sales opportunities across business disciplines (RB, CIB, Physical Channels).
  4. Ensuring end-to-end fulfillment of sales within prescribed standards and actively driving scheme penetration for EVP schemes.
  5. Contributing to regional sales strategy and plans.
  6. Developing weekly plans and activities in conjunction with ES RM/TL to drive sales growth.
  7. Identifying cross-sell opportunities and partnering with colleagues to deliver effectively.
  8. Monitoring and taking accountability for personal sales and service performance, identifying opportunities for improvement or coaching as needed.
  9. Establishing networks within the area for opportunities at key events and forums.
  10. Prospecting future clients and converting leads into business opportunities.
  11. Managing leads proactively and providing feedback to product and performance teams.
  12. Engaging existing clients on new products, services, and migration strategies aligned with One Absa objectives.
  13. Mining EVP schemes to achieve sales and service targets.
  14. Planning sales activities, managing time, resources, and travel efficiently.
  15. Adhering to sales disciplines and new ways of working.
  16. Focusing on new-to-bank (NTB) and new-to-transact (NTT) acquisitions.
  17. Executing campaign management for business growth.
  18. Daily sales planning to meet core sales efficiencies.
  19. Applying strategic time management.

  1. Understanding customer segments to support planning and sales.
  2. Engaging customers in needs analysis and enabling end-to-end solutions.
  3. Resolving client queries and complaints promptly.
  4. Providing a holistic customer experience aligned with team processes.
  5. Contributing to customer experience scores exceeding 92%.
  6. Participating in client engagement routines for improved sales and service.
  7. Acting as a brand ambassador in all activities.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Banking
