Consultant in General Adult Community Psychiatry

Location: Easter Ross and Sutherland


Position: 1.0 WTE Permanent Post


Salary: £107,144 - £142,369 per annum


We seek to appoint a self-motivated clinician with enthusiasm for General Adult Community Psychiatry to join our team of psychiatrists in NHS Highland. This role offers the opportunity to serve a population across rural and urban communities in Easter Ross and Sutherland. The post is supported by a well-developed community mental health team, primary care colleagues, specialist mental health services, and strong third-sector links. The recent pandemic has accelerated our capacity to deliver services using digital technology, opening further opportunities for the post holder.


The post is based in the Mental Health Service within the South and Mid Operational Unit, with a base either at New Craigs site or in the community by agreement. It is a full-time (1.0 WTE) position (8 DCC + 2 SPA).


Applicants must be on the GMC specialist register in General Adult Psychiatry or within 6 months of CCT award by the interview date, as consideration can be given to appoint on a proleptic basis.


This role requires participation in the Consultant on-call rota at New Craigs Hospital, with a current rota frequency of 1:15 and an availability supplement of 3%. Applications for flexible working, including part-time options, will be considered.
