An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Mental Health Practitioner to work within HMP Inverness.
Under the supervision of senior nursing colleagues, you will assist in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence-informed care in line with national and local guidelines. You will provide individualized care and support to people with mental health issues, including those requiring complex case management.
You will practice within relevant national and local standards to deliver safe and effective mental health nursing care in a prison setting, as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Under supervision, you will coordinate and manage complex mental health care packages for individuals in the prison's care. You will engage in multidisciplinary and multi-agency teamwork, including collaboration with Scottish Prison Service (SPS) colleagues.
As part of the team, you will help patients achieve optimal health and well-being, considering patient choices, lifestyle changes, and promoting self-care. You may also participate in general duties within the Health Centre, such as medication dispensing and supporting GP clinics.
You will regularly administer medication, assess the effectiveness of medication regimes, monitor mental states and side effects, and provide feedback to prescribers.
You will participate in planning and facilitating therapeutic group activities alongside other professionals.
The post holder will receive regular managerial supervision from the Team Lead on all aspects of their role.
