Job description

Our client is seeking a Construction Site Manager who will be responsible for managing the construction site and all related aspects in Cape Town, including effectively managing all site staff, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Responsibilities :

  1. Manage the construction site and all related aspects in Cape Town, including effectively managing all site staff, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  2. Experience in commercial and industrial construction is essential.
  3. Manage all Notifications of Delays, Variation Orders, and Non-Conformance Reporting.
  4. Interface with clients, architects, and professionals, serving as the main lead representative on site.
  5. Ensure project timelines are met, strictly managing these according to an agreed schedule, with continuous planning to achieve this.
  6. Manage quality on all work and carry out checklist inspections as per quality management procedures.
  7. Ensure all procurement is managed through the schedule/allowables, with purchase orders obtained via the QS department as per the system.
  8. Understand the allowable for labour, materials, and plant, and ensure the project stays within budget.
  9. Ensure all subcontractor work meets the quality standards of the project requirements and hold bi-monthly subcontractor site meetings.
  10. Manage the contract, with the assistance of the Construction Manager.
  11. Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to.

Skills :

  • Unwavering attitude towards effective program management, quality control, and cost control.
  • Strong management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and under pressure.
  • Computer-literate with good knowledge of MS Project and CCS Buildsmart, which would be advantageous.
  • A good understanding of communication channels, and efficient handling of administration and paperwork.

Qualifications :

  • Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, or SACPCMP accreditation is advantageous.
  • A solid base of at least 6 to 10 years’ experience in the construction field, with at least the last 5 years in a proven Site Manager role.
  • A good understanding of the JBCC contract.
  • Own transport is required.
