Job description

The Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) team provides expertise in real estate transactions, business partnering, space & occupancy planning, design and construction, capital investment program management, and facility maintenance and operations for Amazon’s corporate real estate portfolio across multiple countries. We partner with suppliers to ensure quality, innovation, and operational excellence, continuously improving to exceed employee expectations.

GREF’s Workplace Design and Construction team is seeking a Construction Manager to oversee construction services on projects such as tenant improvements, new builds, expansions, and renovations of Amazon facilities. The role involves managing projects from design to operational turnover, requiring strategic vision and tactical execution. The Construction Manager collaborates with leadership and stakeholders to set budgets, schedules, scope, space allocation, and priorities, building strong project teams for successful delivery. The role also includes managing contractor performance to ensure timely completion, compliance with budgets, standards, and regulations.

Key job responsibilities

  • Represent GREF in delivering space solutions to internal customers.
  • Influence and collaborate with stakeholders including architects, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to align decision-making with Amazon’s priorities.
  • Manage design and construction projects by developing strategies, allocating resources, and maintaining timelines.
  • Lead project meetings and reviews, and provide feedback on design guidelines and building systems.
  • Guide construction activities, including contractor selection, negotiations, budget approvals, procurement, and scheduling.
  • Evaluate and approve or reject changes proposed by customers and consultants.
  • Monitor budgets, track costs, forecast, manage change orders, and approve payments.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, ensure compliance, monitor safety standards, and resolve issues.
  • Hold landlords accountable to lease terms and ensure timely collection of tenant improvement allowances.

Basic Qualifications

  • Significant professional experience in Real Estate Development, Architecture/Design, or Construction Management.
  • Proficiency with productivity software such as Microsoft Office, MS Project, and SharePoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in construction management, business administration, engineering, architecture, interior design, or related field.
  • Understanding of sourcing, procurement, building systems, vendor management, and customer service.
  • Familiarity with legal terms and structures for commercial contracts and leases.
