Job description

Envusa Energy is licensed energy trader jointly owned by EDF Renewables and Anglo American. Envusa is, focused on delivering innovative and industry leading renewable energy solutions to private offtakers across Southern Africa and has a stated aim of developing a 3 to 5GW Renewable Energy generation portfolio by 2030 off the back of secured offtake. Construction of the first 520MW of wind and solar energy is at an advanced stage and will start delivering electricity to offtakers in end of 2025.

Envusa Energy is seeking a Construction Manager to oversee the full scope of on-site execution at the Sishen Solar PV site in Kathu, Northern Cape. This 18-month fixed-term role offers a unique opportunity to lead a high-impact renewable energy project while advancing local socio-economic development and ensuring world-class safety and quality standards.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring safety, quality, budget, and timeline alignment
• Act as the site’s MHSA 4.1 legal appointee, ensuring full compliance with health and safety regulations
• Implement and enforce the HSE Management Plan, conduct risk assessments, and lead incident investigations
• Oversee QA/QC processes to maintain contractual and technical standards
• Ensure effective local stakeholder engagement, supporting socio-economic development (SED) initiatives
• Monitor construction progress through daily inspections and team meetings
• Coordinate closely with contractors, subcontractors, service providers, and regulatory authorities
• Track project budgets, mitigate financial risks, and align construction decisions with project objectives
• Lead project teams with a focus on accountability, mentorship, and delivery excellence
• Procure and manage essential components (solar panels, inverters, etc.) and construction resources
• Liaise with internal (Project Manager, Project CEO, corporate teams) and external stakeholders

What You’ll Need:

• Degree in Engineering or Construction Management (essential)
• Registration with SACPCMP as a Construction Manager (preferred)
• In-depth understanding of MHSA regulations, QA/QC, and SED frameworks
• Extensive experience in EPC and large-scale construction management
• Strong contract administration and contractor performance management skills
• Knowledge of renewable energy systems, particularly solar PV and wind installations
• Familiarity with EPC contracting strategies and modern construction commercial models
• Budget management and risk mitigation experience
• Proficiency in MS Office, project scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera), and reporting
• Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
• Willingness to work full-time on site
