Job summary

Boardroom Appointments is seeking a driven Project/Construction Manager to join our engineering and construction division in Johannesburg. You will plan, coordinate, and oversee multi-site projects from initiation to handover, ensuring safety, efficiency, and on-time delivery within budget.

The role requires a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field and at least two years of site-based experience in construction, infrastructure, or renewable energy.

Qualifications

• BEng/BSc/National Diploma/BTech in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in construction, infrastructure, engineering, renewable energy, or project management environments.
• Site-based project execution and contractor management experience is preferred.
• Legally eligible to work in South Africa and possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage project execution plans, schedules and deliverables.
• Coordinate manpower, equipment and material requirements across projects.
• Identify risks and implement mitigations.
• Oversee daily site activities and ensure work meets drawings, specs, and contracts.
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers and site personnel; conduct site inspections for quality and safety.
• Monitor milestones, progress reporting and project documentation.

A growing engineering and construction business is seeking a driven and ambitious Project / Construction Manager to join its team. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and overseeing projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and Coordination

• Develop and manage project execution plans, schedules, and deliverables.
• Coordinate manpower, equipment, and material requirements across projects.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Liaise with design, procurement, and operational teams to ensure project alignment.

Construction Management

• Oversee daily site activities across multiple projects.
• Ensure work is executed according to drawings, specifications, and contractual requirements.

• Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Resolve technical, operational, and logistical challenges on site.

Project Management

• Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.

Financial and Resource Management

• Assist with budgeting, procurement planning, and cost control.

Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement

• Lead project teams and foster a collaborative working environment.
• Coordinate activities between internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain professional communication with clients, suppliers, and contractors.

• BEng, BSc, National Diploma, BTech, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in construction, infrastructure, engineering, renewable energy, or project management environments.
• Exposure to site-based project execution and contractor management.
• Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Legally authorised to work in South Africa.

Advantageous

• Experience within renewable energy or Solar PV projects.
• Exposure to EPC, civil construction, infrastructure, mining, or industrial projects.
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and reporting tools.
