Job Title : Construction Manager

Location : Gauteng, Johannesburg Metro, Johannesburg

Job Type : 4-month Contract, expected to work full-time hours

Job Duties :

  1. Project Planning & Coordination
  2. Develop detailed construction plans and schedules.
  3. Define project scope, timelines, resources, and cost estimates.
  4. Coordinate with architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, and clients.
  5. Ensure all permits, contracts, and legal requirements are in place.
  1. Team Management
  2. Hire, lead, and manage site supervisors, foremen, subcontractors, and tradespeople.
  3. Assign responsibilities and monitor performance.
  4. Resolve labour or subcontractor issues.
  1. Budget & Cost Control
  2. Monitor project budgets and expenses.
  3. Approve purchase orders and manage procurement.
  4. Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  1. Progress Monitoring
  2. Track progress against the project timeline.
  3. Adjust schedules to account for delays or unexpected issues.
  4. Report regularly to stakeholders on status and risks.
  1. Health, Safety & Compliance
  2. Ensure the site meets all health and safety standards.
  3. Conduct audits and manage risk assessments.
  4. Implement corrective actions if there are compliance issues.
  1. Quality Assurance
  2. Ensure construction work meets specified standards and client expectations.
  3. Conduct site inspections and sign off on milestones.
  4. Handle snag lists and ensure proper project handover.

Education :

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • SACPCMP certification

Experience :

Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction management

Knowledge and Skills :

  • Proficiency in project management software
  • Understanding of budgeting and financial management
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations
