A research and technology organization seeks a CI Storage and Delivery Lead in Cape Town, offering technical leadership in managing storage systems and ensuring data lifecycle management. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of experience in system design and storage architectures. The CI Storage and Delivery Lead role involves technical leadership, architecture, and research for the organisation's specialised infrastructure and programmes.
Key responsibilities include developing and managing server and storage hardware, science archives, data transfer systems, tape libraries, and database services.
The lead will oversee the operation and uptime of these systems and collaborate with this niche industry’s international consortia.
Key Responsibilities:
Qualification Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Electrical Engineering.
Experience Requirements: At least 10 years in system design, architecture, and analysis with a strong focus on storage, including large-scale storage implementations (>20 PB), CEPH (advantageous), high-performance computing, and managing diverse storage architectures.
Extensive experience in system engineering-driven environments, innovative solutions development, and managing distributed projects. Proven experience in technical team management and working with senior management.
Knowledge Required: Budgeting, resource management, financial procedures, computing infrastructure, resource organization, complex communication, leadership, and project delivery skills.
