Biomodal is an omics-based life sciences technology and analytics company focused on understanding the complex interplay of genomics and epigenomics. We have launched products like duet +modC and duet evoC, with more in development, aiming to revolutionize our understanding of health and disease.

The Role

We are seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to support collaborations with early adopting customers by developing and testing novel analysis pipelines. This role involves working closely with scientists, data scientists, bioinformaticians, and engineers to maximize insights from biomodal's products.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with customers to test products and publish scientific findings.
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments to evaluate product utility.
  • Develop proof-of-concept methods for analyzing novel data.
  • Understand and communicate customer requirements to product teams.
  • Troubleshoot experiments using complex omics data and collaborate on solutions.
Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will have a background in bioinformatics or computational biology and value collaboration and impact.

Essential Skills
  • PhD or equivalent in biological or quantitative sciences with a focus on bioinformatics.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Julia.
  • Knowledge of genomic data science methods, including experimental design, QC, variant calling, CNV calling, DMR analysis.
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics data formats (FASTQ, BAM, VCF) and data access methods.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like seaborn or ggplot.
Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of software development best practices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS).
  • Experience with genomic workflow platforms (snakemake, NextFlow).
