Job description

Our client is a leading engineering company providing specialised Electrical, Mechanical, and Instrumentation services to the mining industry in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). As the official agent of Ingersoll Rand in the region, they are seeking an experienced Compressor Maintenance Technician with a strong background in servicing and maintaining Ingersoll Rand compressors to join their team.

Position Overview :

This role requires a hands-on professional with a deep understanding of compressor systems, preventative and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting across mining and industrial sites in the DRC. The successful candidate will work on a rotation schedule of 3 months in the Congo (DRC), followed by 2 weeks off, outside of the DRC.

Responsibilities :
  1. Perform routine and preventative maintenance on Ingersoll Rand compressors (both electric and diesel-driven).
  2. Diagnose faults and carry out repairs with minimal downtime.
  3. Maintain service logs and complete detailed maintenance reports.
  4. Ensure all maintenance is conducted in compliance with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
  5. Collaborate with the operations and engineering teams to ensure optimal performance of compressor systems.
  6. Maintain spare parts inventory and request stock as needed.
  7. Respond to emergency maintenance requests and breakdowns.
Knowledge and Skills :
  • Strong knowledge of rotary screw and reciprocating compressors.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and electrical schematics.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Safety-conscious with experience in industrial or mining environments.
Qualifications and Experience :
  • Education: Technical qualification in Mechanical Electromechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years hands-on experience in the maintenance and repair of Ingersoll Rand air compressors or similar equipment.
  • Previous work experience in mining, heavy industry, or power generation.
  • Familiarity with compressed air treatment systems (dryers, filters, etc.).
Remuneration :
  • R 20,000 - R 30,000 per month.
  • Structured benefits include pension and medical insurance.
  • Flights, accommodation, sustenance, and transport are provided whilst on rotation in DRC.
