Compliance Manager

Are you a compliance expert ready to take ownership of governance and risk in a fast-paced, highly regulated industry? A leading player in the online gambling sector is looking for a driven and strategic Compliance Manager to join their team in South Africa.

This is a unique opportunity to step into a pivotal role, ensuring the business remains fully aligned with regulatory obligations while fostering a culture of compliance and accountability. The ideal candidate will be a proactive professional with deep knowledge of South African gambling regulations, anti-money laundering protocols, and risk management practices.

A natural communicator and problem-solver, they will be just as comfortable presenting to executives as they are managing audits or updating compliance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Designing and managing robust compliance and governance frameworks.
2. Overseeing AML policies, risk controls, and due diligence processes.
3. Leading regulatory audits, reporting, and stakeholder communications.
4. Ensuring alignment with POPIA, PAIA, B-BBEE, and Employment Equity legislation.
5. Training internal teams and embedding a culture of compliance across the business.

What We're Looking For:

1. 5+ years of experience in compliance within gambling, financial services, or another regulated environment.
2. Strong working knowledge of South African regulatory frameworks, AML/CTF obligations, data protection laws, and responsible gambling standards.
3. A legal qualification (BCom Law / LLB) with further postgraduate studies is a plus.
4. Proven ability to build and lead compliance programmes from the ground up.
5. Confident in working independently, managing multiple priorities, and influencing senior stakeholders.
