Introduction

We are seeking to employ a Compliance Administrator to work within the Property & Store Design Team. The role will be based at Clicks Head Office and will report into the Store Development Manager.

Purpose:

To facilitate the organization’s compliance with building regulations by acquiring required occupancy and compliance certificates for all operational premises and maintaining a legally compliant and secure environment to safeguard the safety and well-being of employees, contractors, and customers.

Job Objectives:

  • Prepare and compile council submission documentation accurately and in full.
  • Coordinate and oversee council submission process, monitor progress through each approval stage.
  • Handle submission appeals, address queries, and resolve disputes to prevent delays in certification.
  • Manage the process of acquiring and renewing occupancy certificates, ensuring all documentation and inspections are completed correctly and on time.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including authorities and contractors, to ensure efficient inspections, certifications, and permits.
  • Identify potential compliance risks and recommend mitigation plans to senior management.
  • Maintain accurate records of all building certifications, permits, and inspection reports.
  • Track progress, monitor, and report on submissions and projects.
  • Conduct an annual review of occupancy certificates to ensure compliance.

Education: Minimum requirements

Essential:

  • 3-year Diploma or Degree in Building Science, Civil Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field.
  • Certification in building compliance or health and safety.

Desirable:

  • Health and safety qualification
  • Technical qualification in maintenance
  • Advanced training in building auditing
  • Membership in a professional body (e.g., SACPCMP, SAIOSH)

Job Experience:

  • 3 years' experience in a similar role in any industry.
  • 2 years leading multiple projects.
  • 2 years working with municipal councils or regulatory bodies for permits or certificates.

Desirable:

  • 2 years maintenance planning experience
  • 1 year managing operational compliance for buildings and addressing non-compliance issues
