Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or community engagement.
• Proven ability to write clear, concise PR materials.
• Strong understanding of media relations and community outreach practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.
• Experience in organizing and managing events.
• Familiarity with social media platforms for communication purposes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute public relations strategies tailored to community engagement and local media outreach.
• Craft clear and compelling press releases, newsletters, and social media content to inform and engage the community.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local media representatives, community leaders, and stakeholders.
• Organise and manage community events, information sessions, and stakeholder meetings.
• Monitor local media coverage and public sentiment towards our client's activities.
• Respond to media inquiries and facilitate interviews as needed.
• Assist in the development and implementation of crisis communication plans relevant to the local context.
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure consistent and effective communication of organizational messages.
• Support the brand’s reputation management efforts within the Rustenburg community.
• Contribute to the overall communication strategy of the organization.
