CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

To coordinate teaching and learning activities related to the functioning of the Primary Health Care Mobile Health Education Clinical Platform in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

To work together with the Faculty of Health Sciences to establish and build relationships on the Community and Distributive Healthcare Platform.

To be involved in Inter-Professional Education and collaborative practice.

KEYPERFORMANCEAREAS

  1. To facilitate teaching and learning in under- and post-graduate students in promotive, preventative, curative and rehabilitative health care across the life span.
  2. To mentor students who access the Mobile Health Education Clinical Platform.
  3. To be involved in research activities related to the Mobile Health Education Clinical Platform of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
  4. To collaborate with the Eastern Cape Department of Health in terms of consumables and clinic sites for the Mobile Health Education Clinical Platform.
  5. To perform all related administrative duties and be fully computer literate.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  1. To operate the Mobile Health Education Clinical Platform in the identified communities.
  2. Knowledge of theory and practice integration.
  3. Competent in rendering a comprehensive Primary Health Care service.
  4. Competent in dispensing medication according to the Essential Drugs List.
  5. Competent in management of clinical services.
  6. Sound experience in conducting research.
  7. Sound knowledge of the National Health Act (No. 61 of 2003) and all legislation that governs the different schools’ practices and relative to the respective professional bodies of students who utilize the platform.
  8. Ability to teach and assess Primary Health Care to Faculty of Health Science students
  9. .Sound knowledge of the South African Primary Health and Public Health system.
  10. Excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with people across all levels of life.
  11. Excellent computer skills in MS Office and Project Management.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

Master’s degree in nursing science. PhD in Nursing Science will be an added advantage. Post-Graduate degree /diploma in Advanced Primary Health Care.

Registered with SANC as a Nurse in General, Community, Psychiatric and Midwifery. Post-graduate degree/diploma in Nursing Education.

Post-graduate degree/diploma in Management will be an added advantage.

Experience

At least three years clinical experience in Primary Health Care Nursing Practice.

At least two - three years teaching experience in Nursing or Health Professions Education.

Driver’s License

Code 8 Driver’s Licence and be willing to obtain a Code 10 Driver’s License within six months.
