About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing social enterprise focused on community empowerment, is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Community Operations Lead for their operations in Soweto, Gauteng, ZA . This hybrid role involves significant on-the-ground engagement within the community, complemented by remote administrative and strategic planning tasks. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of community programs, managing local staff and volunteers, ensuring program effectiveness, and fostering strong relationships with community stakeholders. The ideal candidate possesses excellent organizational skills, a passion for social impact, and the ability to inspire and mobilize community members. This is a crucial role for making a tangible difference in the lives of residents in the vibrant Soweto, Gauteng, ZA community.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the operational aspects of community programs, ensuring efficient delivery and impact.
• Oversee and support local staff and volunteers, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Develop and implement operational plans to achieve program objectives.
• Monitor program activities, collect data, and report on progress and outcomes to management.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with community members, local leaders, and partner organizations.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures, as well as any grant or funding requirements.
• Manage local resources, including budgets and assets, effectively and responsibly.
• Identify challenges and implement solutions to improve program delivery and community engagement.
• Coordinate logistics for community events, workshops, and outreach activities.
• Balance remote administrative duties, reporting, and remote coordination with frequent on-site presence in Soweto, Gauteng, ZA .

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in program management, community development, or operations, preferably within the non-profit or social sector.
• Proven experience working directly with community members and stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in basic office software and willingness to learn relevant management tools.
• Experience in managing budgets and reporting on program impact.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, requiring regular on-site presence in Soweto, Gauteng, ZA and remote administrative work.
• A deep understanding of and connection to the Soweto community is highly desirable.
