Placements24 is seeking a dynamic Community Engagement Specialist to foster connections in Upington and the Northern Cape. You will design and implement engagement strategies, build relationships with residents, leaders and organizations, and promote participation in community development.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic Community Engagement Specialist to foster strong connections and facilitate collaborative initiatives in Upington . This role is vital for ensuring our client's programs resonate with the community's needs and that community voices are heard and incorporated into our work. You will be responsible for building relationships with residents, local leaders, and organizations, designing and implementing engagement strategies, and promoting active participation in community development efforts across the Northern Cape . The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, a relationship builder, and passionate about community empowerment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive community engagement plans and strategies.
• Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, focus groups, and public forums.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with diverse community members, leaders, and stakeholders.
• Act as a liaison between the organization and the community, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
• Identify community needs, concerns, and assets, and report findings to relevant internal teams.
• Develop engaging communication materials to inform the community about projects and opportunities.
• Support the implementation of community development initiatives and track engagement metrics.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience in community engagement, public relations, or stakeholder management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong presentation abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to build trust and rapport with diverse groups.
• Strong organizational and event planning skills.
• Familiarity with the socio-economic context of Upington and the Northern Cape is highly desirable.
• Experience in the charity or non-profit sector is a plus.
