About the Role

Our client is a reputable charitable organization seeking an experienced and dynamic Community Development Manager to spearhead initiatives in the Rustenburg, North West, ZA region. This role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for empowering local communities and driving sustainable development. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing a portfolio of community-focused programs aimed at addressing critical social needs. This position involves a hybrid work arrangement, offering a blend of remote flexibility and essential on-site engagement within the community and with the regional office. You will play a crucial role in fostering partnerships, mobilizing resources, and ensuring the impactful delivery of services. The manager will lead a small team, providing guidance and support to achieve organizational objectives and maximize community benefit.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plans for community development programs aligned with organizational goals.
• Manage the full lifecycle of projects, from conception and planning to implementation and evaluation.
• Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with community leaders, local government, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee project budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and financial accountability.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of program officers and community liaisons.
• Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, impact, and sustainability, preparing regular reports for senior management and donors.
• Identify funding opportunities and contribute to grant writing efforts.
• Facilitate community consultations and participatory planning processes.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and organizational policies.
• Represent the organization at community forums, conferences, and other public events.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of progressive experience in community development, program management, or social impact initiatives, with a significant portion in South Africa.
• Demonstrated experience in managing teams and complex projects.
• Strong understanding of socio-economic issues in the North West province.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, community members, and private sector partners.
• Proficiency in project management software and standard office applications.
• Experience in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks and reporting.
• Ability to balance remote work with required on-site presence in Rustenburg, North West, ZA.
