Job description

The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center, is seeking a talented and impact-driven individual to join our team in Pretoria, South Africa, as a Communications & Knowledge Management Coordinator.

The Coordinator will support the implementation of IWMI's global strategies in Southern Africa, working closely with the Regional Representative. Responsibilities include developing content, supporting events and campaigns, and ensuring alignment with IWMI standards. The role involves managing knowledge products, forums, and providing communications support to project teams.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Communications planning and coordination: Support strategy implementation, define workplans, coordinate with teams and partners, and ensure strategic alignment.
  2. Storytelling and content production: Write and edit articles, develop communication materials, prepare social media content, and coordinate multimedia production.
  3. Media relations and outreach: Liaise with media, organize press events, support participation in regional events, and manage mailing lists and newsletters.
  4. Information and knowledge management: Support internal communications, manage information resources, and coordinate data sharing.
  5. Editorial and translation services: Assist researchers with editing and translation.
  6. Monitoring and evaluation: Track metrics, evaluate communication strategies, and adjust tactics as needed.
Requirements:

Educational Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master's degree in relevant fields
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in communication planning, content creation, and event facilitation
  • Proficiency in English writing and editing
  • Experience working in international settings, especially in Southern Africa

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and digital tools

This is a national position open to South African nationals, offering a competitive salary, health and life insurance, and other benefits. The initial contract is for three years, with potential extension.
