Job description

  • Update and maintain the communication policy for Southern Africa as needed.
  • Execute communication strategies across multiple platforms (newsletter, website, social media).
  • Enhance organisational visibility in South Africa.
  • Develop and manage internal and external communication projects.
  • Collaborate with regional communication teams to manage press relations, corporate events, exhibitions, and sponsorships.
  • Create internal communication materials (brochures, videos, newsletters, case studies).
  • Engage with various press portals to ensure consistent media coverage.
  • Contribute to website design, updates, and content creation.
  • Maintain corporate branding and ensure adherence to the organisation's identity.
  • Assist with compiling the annual NPS survey for the region.
  • Ensure timely delivery and distribution of the Masikulume newsletter.

Commercial Management:

  • Oversee relationships with service providers.

Management & Coordination:

  • Promote communication initiatives throughout the region.
  • Serve as the go-to contact for communication-related projects.
  • Support departments in implementing their communication strategies.
  • Facilitate regional communication meetings.

Digital Marketing:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive digital marketing strategies.
  • Manage email and LinkedIn campaigns.
  • Boost LinkedIn presence by managing social media accounts and creating engaging content.
  • Plan and oversee email marketing campaigns.

Public Relations:

  • Cultivate relationships with media outlets and industry influencers.
  • Develop and monitor an annual plan for press releases and media kits.
  • Organize press conferences and media events.
  • Respond to media inquiries and manage crisis communications.
  • Identify opportunities for positive media coverage.

Internal & External Communications:

  • Design and execute both internal and external communication strategies.
  • Produce and edit content for websites, blogs, newsletters, etc.
  • Ensure consistency in brand messaging across all communication channels.
  • Collaborate with departments to gather and share important information.
  • Prepare speeches, presentations, and talking points for company leaders.
  • Manage the company’s reputation and brand image.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist sites with their communication planning and execution.
  • Implement internal communication strategies and plans.
  • Manage communication activities within the allocated budget.

Health & Safety:

  • Ensure that the Group’s communication policies are followed.
  • Guarantee the alignment of internal and external communications with the organisation’s strategy and values.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the department manager.
  • Adhere to ISO 9001 standards.
  • Work effectively as part of a team.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all business and employee information.
  • Proficient in necessary computer functions.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 plus a post-matric qualification in Communications (or equivalent).
  • At least 5 years of experience in communications/marketing, including internal and external communications.
  • Management Experience - Minimum Services industry 5 years.
  • Language Requirement - English first language or must have excellent proficiency.
  • Proven experience in media relations with examples of secured press coverage.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Proactive, results-driven, and detail-oriented.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent networking abilities.
  • Quick thinker and adaptable to changing situations.
  • Media-savvy, with an understanding of how to frame a story from a journalist’s perspective.
  • Photography and video production skills are a plus.
  • Experience with online media databases and content management systems.
  • Proficient in Google Suite applications.
  • Knowledge of web design, SEO, and content management.
  • Competence in relevant software and digital tools used by the company.
