Job summary

GVW Group is seeking a Commodity Buyer in Cape Town, South Africa. You will manage sourcing activities for assigned commodities, lead supplier negotiations, and support production and project requirements while driving cost reduction initiatives.

You will build strong supplier relationships, manage RFQs, and collaborate with Engineering to enable informed commercial decisions. This is a full-time on-site role at our Durbanville offices, offering a dynamic, global-span procurement environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, purchasing, or supply chain management.
• Strong commercial negotiation skills.
• Cost analysis and total cost of ownership assessment.
• Supplier relationship and performance management.
• Proactive risk identification and mitigation.
• Contract and commercial awareness.
• Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

We are currently seeking a Commodity Buyer to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa.

About the Role

As a Commodity Buyer, you will be responsible for managing assigned commodity sourcing activities, developing supplier partnerships, and leading commercial negotiations to support production and project requirements.

This role plays a critical part in executing procurement strategies through sourcing, RFQ management, supplier development, commercial support, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

Education
